Special person



This young man holds a very special place in my heart, he is my godchild. I hope that I have had some positive influence on his life. My wish for him is that he live a full and happy life and accomplish his dreams. Hold the good times near his heart so that when and if his life seems to go downhill he can look back at the goodtimes and pick himself up and go forward with his hopes and dreams. Tyler, when you get down in the dumps just remember "Don't Quit!

Memorial Day

I took time today to call some people that I know, mostly from the WW2 era and tell them just how much I apreciate the freedom and liberty that I have today because of what they have done for this country.I would encourage anyone that reads this to thank a veteran for your freedom. Freedom is not free, someone must pay for it, and our brave military deserve to know that we as individuals appreciate the fact that they protect and keep us safe from harms way. Tell a vet how you feel and ask a friend to do the same and then that friend should ask someone and our military men and women will be happy to know that we really do care about them. Look directly into that vets eyes and you will then know how much your words of kindness mena to him or her.Don't wait for another Memorial day to thank someone, do it whenever you encounter a vet, don't be shy, just walk up to him or her and tell them what is in your heart, you will be surprised at the reaction that you get. God bless our troops and keep us from harms way.

When Rusty went to bed Friday he seemed to be fine. On Saturday morning he was in unbearable pain and we took him to the vet. The plan was to put him on antibiotics and fluids. He was found to have kidney and liver problems along with an infection and blood in his stool. On Sunday the vet let us visit him. On Monday they let us bring him home for the night thinking that we would rest better and we had to take him back the Tuesday morning at 7:30 for test. Once again we picked him up Tuesday afternoon and brought him home to spend the night. At this point he had not eaten anything since Saturday morning and had drank very little. We were also told on Tuesday that his pancreas was now involved. It became very obvious that he has was not getting any better. Early Wednesday morning he got up and went towards his water bowl only to fall and not be able to get up. We took him outside to use the bathroom and when we brought him back in we put him in our bed. We layed with him until time to go to the vet. We had made the hard decision to let him go and we stayed with him until the end so that he would know just how much he was loved. We brought him home and built the coffin and laid him to rest in the backyard in a shady spot. To say that we are both heartbroken does not even begin to describe how we feel. He is gone, but not forgotten, and he will never be replaced. Rusty Tucker April 5, 1992 to May 9, 2007.

Cell phones

For the life of me I cannot figure why people insist on talking on their cell phones while they are driving! We went to Tarboro today for a family function and as we were headed back to Morehead City some lady talking on a cell phone pulled right into our lane. The sad thing is that she never even realized what she had done. Good thing my husband was paying attention to what goes on around him when he is driving. As we approached the stop light at the Walmart the lady was in the turning lane and still talking on that dang phone. Looks like I will have to write my congressman and see if the state will make it illegal to talk and drive, some folks can only do one thing at a time and do it well.

Do your part

My husband and I went fishing today and had good luck, we caught 16 spots and croakers. We fished at the site of a bridge that had been lined with rocks to keep the soil from eroding. It was evident that many people had fished at this location, there was trash everywhere. When we go back to that site I will take a pair of rubber gloves and a heavy duty trash bag and pick up other folks trash. Come on people do not expect that someone will automatically clean up your mess that you have left to help destroy the earth. Be responsible and clean up after yourself and be good to the earth, after all it would be a shame that in 3 or 4 generations from now our descendants think of us as a bunch of filfty pigs because the earth is dying!!

Pet peeves

Ok, here we go!! My biggest pet peeve is what I call "nit pickin' noises". You know what I mean, rattling change in your pocket, tapping your fingers on the table, jingling your keys, and things like that. Those noises just seem to go through my soul like someone dragging their fingernails across a chalkboard! Another one is, why should there be any question at all about ENGLISH being the official language of this country? Why should road signs be bilingual and why should my tax dollars fund bilingual services in government offices. My theory, if you cannot speak the language do not come to this country to live. I certainly do not recall any special language features being provided for the italians, greeks, and other immigrants that came through Ellis Island, they learned the language!! Bottom line, why should I have to press 1 for english, after all it is my national language. I do not mean to offend anyone of any nationally, but this is the United States of America and the language is ENGLISH!

Immigration

Grant Park in Chicago was one of the sites that immigrants, legal and illegal, marched in to obtain legal status. There are a lot of people that have been in this country for many years and have worked very hard and been a productive part of the communities in which they live. I agree that they should have come into the country the legal way, but they all did not and now the government must deal with the situation. Everyone deserves a better life, I am all for that, but do it the right way.

The new beach

For almost all of my adult life I have been visiting Morehead City/Atlantic Beach NC area. Recently there have been some very disturbing things going on at Atlantic Beach. The "Circle" was sold by the town to a private citizen and he has posted a sign on the corner, Grove the New Beach. What the heck was wrong with the "old" beach? Within the last couple of years two piers have been torn down to make way for condos, and if that was not bad enough, some person also tore down Jungle Land for the sake of even more condos. Pray tell, why does anyone want to go to Atlantic Beach anymore, there certainly is not anything for the family to do there. Oh, I beg your pardon, I think I know the answer, poor folks are not welcome there!! Somewhere along the way folks have forgotten that it was the average, everyday, working person that built the entire island, not just the Atlantic Beach section, up to what it was a couple of years ago. Now it seems that all they want are the folks that afford the condos, boats, shopping, and resturants. Places for the campers/mobile homes are disappearing as if Houdini himself were there. I wonder how many children will not learn to fish beacuse soon there may be no fishing piers left on the island.

The new congress?

I really am not too sure about this nations new congress. It seems to me that all they are really interested in is cutting funds for the war. Has anyone bothered to tell them that our men and women get the news over there?? If I was over there I think that I would become very disenchanted with this new congress. Come on folks, let them finish the job and come home, not give up and come home!

A little about me

I like to fish, when the fish are biting that is! I love country music, mostly the older songs from folks like Patsy Cline, Jim Reeves, Loretta Lynn, etc. I also like the old time rock n roll of artists like Chuck Berry. No ones does love songs better than Percy Sledge! Married to the same man for 44 years and we have one son.

Military

When you see a military person, what do you do? Have you ever taken just a few minutes of your time to thank a vet for the freedom that you have today because of what they have sacrificed? I do, and I believe that it makes a difference in their life to hear that they are appreciated. It makes no difference if they served in draft times or if they served in volunteer times, they all like to know that we here at home appreciate all that they sacrifice for us.
